Five useful English words for the table

A tiny vocabulary list to use in context.

Pair

Two cards that match under the chosen rule. Say “These two make a pair” while placing them together. For our picture cards, Cat matches Cat.

Draw

Take one card from an offered hand. In the actual game the drawing player does not see the offered card faces first. In our demonstration, faces are shown only to explain the sequence.

Offer

Hold out the hand for the next active player. Use “Who offers next?” to connect the word with the turn order.

Remaining

The cards still held after a step. Try “Which card is remaining?” when one card is left after a visible pair is removed.

Unmatched

A card that has no partner in the current setup. Our mini deck’s Sun is deliberately unmatched. These are English activity prompts, not a language assessment or a substitute for teaching in a family’s preferred language.
