Begin with a visible choice
Choose two Cat cards and one Fish card from the printable. Place them face up with enough space to point at each one. Ask “Which two match?” rather than adding a timer or a score.
Describe the reason
Accept pointing as a response, or say the word together. The useful explanation is that both cards show Cat. Similar colours are not enough. If needed, place the two matching cards side by side and name what is the same.
Add one step
After a match is found, move those two cards away and ask what remains. Later you can introduce two different pairs, and then the odd Sun. These are optional activity ideas; there is no requirement to complete every step in one sitting.
Keep play comfortable
Let the learner watch a turn before joining, hold cards face up during teaching, or take a break. Do not use a mistake as a reason to embarrass someone. The browser exercise gives neutral feedback and has no leaderboard.
